Over the years this has included doors, staircases, green oak gates, a green oak pontoon, a Church bell tower, stable doors, show jumps, a dentist reception area and 16 foot long solid oak bar. |
A few years ago, I realised that many English timbers were highly expensive, if available at all. At the same time, I discovered that, on most occasions, when small quantities of trees come down, they are used only as firewood.
Nationally, 30% of our imports are timber based products. All of this seemed quite wrong to me. So I set myself the task of finding a way of handling, milling and drying English trees, and of course learning all the methods of conversion.
